Managed Provider Terms and Acceptable Use Policy

Version: 2026-09-24

These Managed Provider Terms ("Managed Terms") apply when your organization uses provider accounts that RedundantDNS operates ("managed mode") instead of, or next to, provider accounts you connect yourself. They add to our Terms of Service, including its Acceptable Use section, and our Privacy Policy. If these Managed Terms and the Terms of Service disagree about managed mode, these Managed Terms win. An owner or admin of your organization accepts them once for the whole organization; a new version must be accepted again before new managed connections or attachments are created.

1. What managed mode is

In managed mode, the zones you choose are hosted in DNS accounts that we hold at the following providers ("Providers"):

  • Amazon Web Services (Route 53);
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI DNS);
  • Google Cloud (Cloud DNS);
  • Microsoft Azure (Azure DNS);
  • Cloudflare (Cloudflare DNS).

We only offer the Providers that are enabled in the dashboard at the time you connect them. You do not get access to our Provider accounts: we create, update and delete your zones there on your behalf, and only to serve the zones you attach.

2. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the domains, zones and records you serve through managed mode and for everything they point to. In particular you agree that:

  • you own each domain or are authorized to administer it;
  • your use and your content are lawful where you operate and where the Providers operate;
  • you will not use managed zones for abuse, including phishing, fraud, malware distribution or command-and-control, spam infrastructure (including records that make such mail look legitimate), infringement of intellectual property or privacy, or any other activity listed in the Acceptable Use section of the Terms of Service;
  • you will not use managed mode to deal with persons, entities or regions subject to economic sanctions or export restrictions that apply to you, to us or to a Provider;
  • you will not try to reach, probe or abuse our Provider accounts beyond the zones the Service manages for you.

3. Provider terms

Because your zones run in our accounts, your use of managed mode must also comply with the terms and acceptable use policies of each Provider that serves them, as they apply to the content and use of a hosted DNS zone:

A Provider may change its terms. The version in force at the Provider applies.

4. What we may do

We are the account holder at each Provider, so we must act when a Provider, a court, an authority or an abuse report asks us to. In those cases, and when we reasonably believe a managed zone breaks these Managed Terms, we may:

  • suspend a managed zone at one Provider, or remove it from that Provider;
  • stop creating new managed zones for your organization at one or more Providers;
  • suspend managed mode for your organization.

Notice. We will tell your organization's owners and admins by e-mail and in the dashboard, with the reason and the zones affected, before we act when it is safe and lawful to do so, and give you a reasonable time to fix the problem or to move the zone. When a Provider, the law or the severity of the harm requires immediate action, we act first and tell you as soon as we can, unless we are not allowed to.

What we never do. Suspending or removing a zone at one Provider never deletes your canonical zone in RedundantDNS. The canonical zone and its records stay in your organization; the zone keeps being served by the other Providers attached to it; you can export it as a zone file at any time; and you can attach your own provider accounts (bring your own, BYO) to serve it from there. We do not remove your canonical zone because of a Provider's request unless a court or authority orders it.

5. Cost pass-through and margin

Each Provider charges us for the zones and queries we host for you. We pass that cost through to you, at the Provider's list price published in the dashboard and on our pricing page, plus a margin shown there (currently 20%). The charge is computed per billing period from each Provider's zone count and query metrics, shown line by line in the dashboard and billed with your plan's invoice. When a Provider changes its prices we update the published prices; the change applies from the next billing period.

6. Data location

DNS records are public data by design: every Provider publishes your records worldwide from its own network of nameservers, and resolvers everywhere cache them. Your canonical zone, its history and your organization's settings are stored by us as described in the Privacy Policy. The Providers process the zones they host under their own terms; we choose the default region or account location of each Provider and may change it.

7. Availability

Managed mode depends on the Providers, which we do not control. Serving a zone from several Providers reduces the impact of an outage at one of them, which is the purpose of the Service. Unless your plan or a written agreement includes a service level agreement, managed mode is provided without any availability commitment, as described in the Terms of Service.

8. Termination

  • You may stop using managed mode at any time by detaching the managed Provider from your zones. You may delete the managed zone at the Provider when you detach it, or ask us to.
  • If your plan no longer includes managed mode, or your organization cancels, we stop serving your zones from our Provider accounts at the end of the paid period, after notice, and delete those Provider zones. Your canonical zones stay in your organization until you delete them or your account is deleted.
  • We may end managed mode for a Provider with at least 30 days of notice, or at once when that Provider ends our account or the law requires it. You can move those zones to your own account in the meantime.
  • Charges for the period in which a zone was hosted remain due.

9. Changes to these Managed Terms

We may update these Managed Terms. Each version is identified by its date at the top of this page. When a change is material, an owner or admin must accept the new version before your organization creates new managed connections or attachments; existing managed zones keep being served while you review it.
