RedundantDNS Nameservers Terms

Version: 2026-09-28

These terms apply when your organization uses the RedundantDNS nameservers. They add to our Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy, which apply as usual. If these terms and the Terms of Service disagree about the nameservers, these terms win.

1. What the service is

The RedundantDNS nameservers are authoritative DNS servers that we operate ourselves, in several regions. When you attach them to a zone, we serve that zone from every node, and the nodes' names join the zone's NS set next to your other providers. No third-party account is involved and you give us no credentials.

2. Price

The nameservers are included in every plan, the trial too. There is no pass-through cost and no per-query charge.

3. Fair use

Each plan has published limits (zones, records and queries). If a zone goes well beyond them for a sustained period, we will contact you first, with notice, and may ask you to move the zone to another provider or to a plan that fits, or limit what the nameservers serve for that zone. We do not limit a zone without telling you why.

4. Operations

  • We may add, drain or replace nodes at any time to keep the service healthy. Your zones move with the service; nothing is required from you.
  • The names of the nameservers (the NS names in your zones and at your registrar) may change. When they do, we tell you at least 30 days in advance.
  • At launch there is no contractual service level agreement. We run the nameservers on a best-effort basis and publish their status on a public status page. Serving a zone from more than one provider is still the best protection against an outage.

5. Data

Zone data is public DNS data: anyone on the internet can query it. We keep query logs only in aggregate (counts per zone and per node); we do not keep per-client query data for more than 30 days. Your organization's data is otherwise handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use the nameservers for abuse (phishing, malware, fraud, spam infrastructure) or to serve zones for illegal content, and follow the Acceptable Use section of the Terms of Service. If we receive a credible report or see such use, we tell your organization's owners and admins, with the reason and the zones affected, and give a reasonable time to fix it, unless the law or the severity of the harm requires us to act at once. We may then stop serving the affected zones from the nameservers. Your canonical zone is never deleted by a suspension: it stays in your organization, keeps being served by your other providers, and can be exported at any time.

7. Changes and acceptance

An owner or admin accepts these terms once for the whole organization. Each version is identified by its date at the top of this page. When we publish a new version, it must be accepted before your organization attaches the nameservers to new zones; zones already attached keep being served while you review it.
